Hi! I'm Kayla Davis, a 24-year-old creative designer and photographer who loves telling the story of and branding athletic programs.
From an early age, I have always had a deep passion and appreciation for sports and knew I wanted to build a career around the energy, passion, and storytelling that sports provide. My journey into the sports industry began at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia my home state, where I worked as the sports photographer for Mercer Athletics, capturing the emotion and intensity of college sports for four years.
After my sophomore year, a pivotal moment in my college career—watching Mercer's football team face off against the University of Alabama—inspired my desire to pursue a career in the sports industry and sports media. After speaking with a mentor who had guided me throughout my college career, he connected me with an internship opportunity with the South Carolina Women’s Basketball team. This internship was the start of my career. What started as a summer internship quickly turned into a fall semester role, allowing me to deepen my knowledge of sports creative content. Working with such a high-caliber program only reinforced my passion for the industry and solidified my commitment to making sports my career.
As I wrapped up my senior year at Mercer, I set my sights on building a career in sports creative content. This led me to an exciting opportunity at Tulane University in New Orleans, where I joined the Green Wave as the Assistant Director of Creative Services. In this role, I was the primary graphic designer for seven sports teams, developing dynamic visuals and content to elevate the brand and experience for athletes and fans alike. At Tulane I was able to grow significantly as a designer, employee, and human. I was able to manage and adjust to all the different projects that would come in every day, learning to work quickly and be efficient. I was able to see how an elite program is run, which gave me the knowledge and skillset to manage a creative department.
After a rewarding year at Tulane, I was fortunate to take the next step in my career with the North Carolina Women’s Basketball. I am thrilled to be able to continue my craft in sports creative content while helping tell the stories of athletes and teams at the highest level.
Whether I’m designing graphics, creating content, or collaborating, my goal is always the same: to bring the passion and excitement of sports to life in a way that resonates with fans and inspires athletes.
